Legal aid professionals focusing on eviction and domestic violence, who have made possible legal representation for thousands who likely wouldn’t have been represented, have been named this year’s New York State Bar Association award winners for exceptional legal aid work and services.

The 70,000-member bar association, the nation’s largest voluntary state bar group, on Tuesday announced the recipients of four legal aid- and services-focused awards. The honors include a dual recognition for the Pace Women’s Justice Center of Westchester and Putnam Counties which, according to a news release from the bar group, has increased its reach by 20% since 2018. It is now the largest civil legal services provider for victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and elder abuse in the two upstate counties, the bar association said.
