A coalition of 21 attorneys general have joined together in an amicus brief filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit asking judges to block enforcement of the latest abortion ban—this one in South Carolina.

“We are witnessing a cruel and relentless attack on a woman’s right to choose,” Connecticut Attorney General William Tong said Wednesday. “This South Carolina law is just the latest unlawful and draconian legislation aimed at making it more difficult for women to access health care. My office stands with our partner states and will never stop fighting these restrictive laws and defending every woman’s right to choose and safely access abortion services. Abortion is health care and women have the right to access health care free from politics.”
