The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York has been recused from a criminal case in the district because acting U.S. Attorney Jacquelyn Kasulis is married to the defendant’s attorney, an assistant prosecutor told U.S. District Judge Nicholas Garaufis on Wednesday.

Kasulis’ husband, Telemachus “Tim” Kasulis, a partner at Morvillo Abramowitz Grand Iason & Anello, represents Jason Kurland, who was indicted nearly a year ago on charges of fraud and money laundering.
