U.S. District Judge Carol Bagley Amon of the Eastern District of New York on Thursday issued a preliminary injunction opening the door for champion horse-racing trainer Bob Baffert to enter horses in races this season at the Saratoga Race Course, despite the racetrack operator’s attempt to suspend him amid doping allegations.

In a 28-page ruling, Amon wrote that she is “sensitive” to the New York Racing Association’s concerns about the positive drug test result from a horse trained by Baffert, Medina Spirit, at the Kentucky Derby, “and the fear that history might repeat itself in New York.”
