New York state will allow people to use the sex designation “X” on their driver’s licenses under legislation signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
The legislation will make it easier for transgender, nonbinary, intersex and gender non-conforming people to obtain identification that shows their accurate identity, said state Sen. Brad Hoylman, D-Manhattan, in a statement.
