Nine of 25 candidates running in contested primary elections for New York City Civil Court and Kings County Surrogate’s Court positions were given a “Not Approved” rating Wednesday by the New York City Bar Association’s Committee on the Judiciary.

The Bar Association’s judiciary committee, which has long rated local, state and federal candidates for New York City’s courts, issued “Not Approved” or “Approved” ratings for 25 candidates in the contested primary judicial elections after completing detailed evaluations, according to city bar association news release and information provided by the bar association on its judicial evaluation process.
