"I think I was going into 2020 just sort of drifting along. And in some ways, everything that happened to me [with COVID-19] was a much-needed wake-up call. And I feel that my life and career are very on track right now," Lat said.

Some may have thought that life would slow down for David Lat after he survived a near-death battle with COVID-19 in early 2020, only to then find himself facing a long and unpredictable recovery from the disease.
But those who expected Lat might recede into the shadows for months or longer after he departed the hospital were most likely some of the hundreds of thousands of global observers who’d followed Lat’s coronavirus saga from afar.
