A New York bill that would open up a legal lookback window for claims from adult survivors of sexual abuse cleared its first legislative hurdle Tuesday.
The bill would create a one-year lookback window for survivors to bring civil lawsuits over sexual abuse that occurred when they were 18 years old or older, even if the statute of limitations on a claim has run out.
