New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office announced Thursday that it was suing conservative activists Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman over a racist robocall campaign that allegedly aimed to keep Black people from voting by mail in the 2020 presidential election.

The office said in a federal court filing that the scheme, which landed Wohl and Burkman under indictment in two states, had targeted more than 5,500 phone numbers in New York, with the “vast majority” of the robocalls placed to residents in predominantly Black neighborhoods in New York City.
