An attorney who served as a justice of the Manorhaven Village Court in Nassau County resigned while under investigation by the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct for a series of allegations, including favoritism and sexism.
Peter Gallanter, who had been a justice of the village court since 2008, left office April 5 and agreed never to seek nor accept judicial office in the future, the judicial conduct commission announced in a news release Monday.
