Federal prosecutors are making an effort to keep the indictment against Steve Bannon intact, despite his presidential pardon, in a dispute that could have major implications for the former White House strategist and three co-defendants charged with defrauding donors in a private effort to fund construction of a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Bannon, who was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering in connection with the “We Build the Wall” campaign, has asked a Manhattan federal judge to dismiss the August 2020 indictment, citing a “full and unconditional pardon” from former President Donald Trump in the final hours of his presidency.
