Abid Qureshi, the new partner-in-charge of the Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld office in New York, said his immediate priorities are improving diversity and inclusion and adding lawyers in core practices to the office that has grown to the firm’s largest.

Qureshi, a financial restructuring partner who started his career at the firm in 1999, succeeds Trey Muldrow, who recently left the firm to join Weil, Gotshal & Manges as a private equity partner in New York.
