Manhattan U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss on Thursday announced a $180 million settlement with Toyota Motor Corp. in a long-running Justice Department civil probe into the Japanese automaker’s delayed reporting of emission-related defects.
According to the announcement, the civil penalty was the largest ever paid for violations of the Clean Air Act’s emission-reporting requirements.
