Democratic leaders in the New York Senate on Monday announced that they have won at least 42 seats in the Senate, giving the party a supermajority and the largest Democratic majority in Senate history.

Forty-one races have been called so far, and Deputy Majority Leader Michael Gianaris, D-Queens, who also leads the New York State Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, said he expects incumbent Democrat Pete Harckham’s race in his Hudson Valley district to be called in his favor by Tuesday.
