New York legislators and criminal justice advocates calling for a renewed focus on the health of incarcerated populations will hold a rally Friday morning at the Queensboro Correctional Facility in Long Island City to express concern over an impending second wave of coronavirus infections affecting state prisoners.

State Assembly Correction Chair David I. Weprin and Crime and Corrections Chair Luis Sepúlveda will head up Friday’s rally, in which they will call for increased testing and mitigation efforts, flu vaccinations and preservation of family ties to assist incarcerated individuals.
