State officials have reported virus hot spots in areas of downstate New York as some key coronavirus figures reported Friday trended upward to levels not seen in months. But it did not immediately appear that law firm offices were in jeopardy of being closed once again in an effort to curb new infections.

As of Thursday, New York recorded 1,000 or more new coronavirus cases on a daily basis for several days in a row, a trend not seen since early June. There’s been an uptick in coronavirus hospitalizations as well.
