New York election officials and the League of Women Voters on Thursday filed a settlement for the November general election in a federal lawsuit that argued the state’s absentee ballot procedures were flawed.

The agreement comes after the state officials have made changes in the lead-up to the general election, which is expected to produce a flood of absentee ballots due to the coronavirus pandemic. Among those changes is the passage of a bill that would give absentee voters a heads-up about deficiencies with their ballot envelope.
