Steve Bannon, a former top strategist to President Donald Trump, pleaded not guilty Thursday to charges that he defrauded hundreds of thousands of donors to the “We Build the Wall” online crowdfunding campaign, which raised more than $25 million in support of Trump’s efforts to build a wall on the United States’ southern border.

Bannon, who is represented by William Burck and Daniel Koffmann of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, was arrested around 7:15 a.m. Thursday and arrived in the Southern District of New York “several hours later,” where he appeared by video for an arraignment before U.S. Magistrate Judge Stewart D. Aaron, attorneys said.
