If you want to understand the law school admissions process, what it’s like to be a law student, and what lawyers actually do, who better to clue you in that the people who sit in the dean’s office? That’s why I like the concept behind a new online discussion series for prospective law students featuring deans from USC, Albany, Columbia, Colorado, Georgia, and Oregon. The six-part series was the brainchild of USC law dean Andrew Guzman, who drafted some colleagues to share their insider knowledge.

“Everyone, when they go to law school, has a whole bunch of questions because it’s such a mysterious thing,” Guzman told me. “The hope is that we can present, in as useful a way as possible, information about what law school is, what the legal profession is like, and then some nuts and bolts of stuff like how you apply and what admissions deans are looking for. I think of it more as for people who have already decided to apply or who are thinking about applying, to give them honest information and a better view of what they are getting themselves into—both in school and in the profession.”
