One to two million dead. Several million infected. These COVID-19 headlines have rattled the American people and their policymakers. As a result, the country is effectively shut down, with a whopping 16.8 million people losing their jobs in just the last few weeks. Some estimate that unemployment eventually could be as high as 32%. And, others are warning that we could see record-setting bankruptcies in the next 12 months if the federal stimulus package doesn’t work as intended.
Most Americans are still trying to wrap their heads around what is happening and whether this will ever actually end. One would think that this once-in-a-lifetime COVID-19 chaos and the predictions of doom are based on reliable science and data.
