The Legal Aid Society is publicly condemning the New York City Police Department for conducting 2,451 more recorded stop-and-frisk procedures in the city in 2019 than in 2018, representing a 22% increase, according to Legal Aid’s summarizing of and linking to police department statistics put out annually.

In 2019, there were 13,459 stop-and-frisk procedures conducted by the police department versus 11,008 such procedures in 2018, Legal Aid said, citing that data.
