A Manhattan federal judge on Friday sentenced former U.S. Rep. Christopher Collins, R-New York, to more than two years in prison for his role in an insider trading scheme involving the Australian biotechnology firm where he served as a director for more than a decade.

Collins had initially pleaded not guilty in 2018 to multiple charges of fraud and conspiracy, but reversed course in October, pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud and one count of making false statements.
