A Bronx attorney who was convicted for his role in helping to cover up a $4.8 million mortgage fraud scheme will receive a disciplinary hearing to decide whether he is able to keep his law license, a state appeals court said Tuesday.

The New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Department found that lawyer Laurence Savedoff’s offense qualified as a “serious crime” that warranted immediate suspension, and ordered a sanction hearing in the coming months to determine whether he is ultimately censured, suspended or disbarred following his conviction last year for misprision, or concealment of knowledge, of a felony.
