On Nov. 13, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, in partnership with the Eastern District of New York Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, Hofstra University School of Law and the Justice Resource Center held the first round of the Long Island Mentor Moot Court Competition at the Nassau County Supreme Court in Mineola. This moot court competition was developed in 2016 as part of the Second Circuit’s Civic Education Initiative: Justice for All: Courts and the Community. The Suffolk County preliminary rounds will be held at the Long Island Federal Courthouse in Central Islip on Nov. 15. Two teams from Nassau County and two teams from Suffolk County will advance to the semi-final/championship round, which will take place at the Long Island Federal Courthouse on Nov. 19.
