The Manhattan federal judge presiding over a lawsuit against the Trump administration over its decision to ask about citizenship on the 2020 U.S. Census rejected a motion from the U.S. Department of Justice on Friday to delay the trial past its scheduled start date in November.
Lawyers for the Trump administration, meanwhile, gave notice earlier on Friday that they would be filing a motion with the Second Circuit Court of Appeals seeking the same relief while the U.S. Supreme Court reviews decisions made in the case on discovery and depositions.
