The Trump administration has formally asked the U.S. Supreme Court to stay the deposition of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, an official at the U.S. Department of Justice, and other discovery in New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood’s census lawsuit while the high court considers its request to review decisions made in the district court.
Attorneys for the administration said in their application to the high court that if those depositions proceed next week as scheduled, the possible harm done to their case by the testimony can not be undone. The application was submitted by U.S. Solicitor General Noel Francisco.
