Virginia Seitz defies stereotypes. She's a star who bills at a 60 percent rate as a Sidley Austin partner, but she also defines herself as part time, arriving at the firm's Washington, D.C., office every day at 6 a.m. and leaving by 2:55 p.m. to pick up her children from school. Her practice area, appellate litigation, fits well with that schedule, allowing Seitz to become the first Sidley woman to argue before the Supreme Court. Seitz is proof that women can work part time and still make partner.

Virginia Seitz looks more like a room parent than a high-powered attorney. In truth, she’s both. But unlike many other corporate lawyer moms, who seem to be channeling Nancy Pelosi, Seitz really does appear to be more suited to the next PTA meeting.
