The Senate Judiciary Committee today advanced the nomination of veteran white-collar defender Leslie Caldwell to lead the Criminal Division at the U.S. Department of Justice.

Caldwell, co-chairwoman of the corporate investigations and white-collar practice at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, sailed through the committee on a voice vote. The vote followed a confirmation hearing in February when the committee members expressed no opposition to her heading the more than 600-lawyer Criminal Division.
