In a blow to the White House, two federal judges blocked the third iteration of President Donald Trump’s so-called travel ban this week within hours of one another.

On Tuesday, Judge Derrick Watson of the U.S. District Court for the District of Hawaii granted that state’s request for a preliminary injunction. Late Tuesday night, U.S. District Judge Theodore Chuang of Maryland did the same, in response to a request from several immigrant rights groups and individuals. The ban would have gone into effect at midnight Wednesday.
