In 2013, a groundbreaking federal jury verdict declared that a connection existed between ovarian cancer and the daily use of feminine powder products containing talc. While that jury chose not to levy damages against consumer health products giant Johnson & Johnson, its verdict marked the first time the company would be told by a jury that it failed to warn consumers about deleterious health effects.

The verdict also foreshadowed an expanding legal fight that saw its first substantial monetary verdicts in 2016.
