Plaintiffs lawyers who secured a $14.7 billion settlement with Volkswagen over the emissions scandal involving its “clean diesel” vehicles are asking for $175 million in fees and costs.

In a filing late Tuesday, lead counsel Elizabeth Cabraser said the request was less than 2 percent of the total class fund, the “lowest ever sought in a multi-billion dollar case.” The request includes $167 million in fees and $8 million in costs.
