The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday named Jane Norberg, the acting chief of the agency’s whistleblower office, as the permanent leader of the Dodd-Frank Act-created program that has awarded more than $111 million to 34 tipsters in the past five years.

Since taking the reins following the departure of Sean McKessy in July, the office’s inaugural chief, Norberg has presided over two whistleblower awards, including a $22 million bounty to a former Monsanto Co. executive who tipped regulators off to improper accounting at the agrichemical giant. The award pushed the total bounties issued by the SEC past the $100 million mark—an accomplishment that the agency has trumpeted.
