Faegre Baker Daniels chairman Andrew Humphrey has been enjoying views of a new landmark from his Minneapolis office: the 30-story U.S. Bank Stadium, which will host its first Minnesota Vikings game this month.

It’s not the only new stage for competition in town. National and regional firms have been planting roots in Minneapolis’ fertile legal market, hoping to capitalize on the 17 Fortune 500 companies headquartered or based in the Twin Cities. For Minneapolis’ largest, longest-established law firms, including Humphrey’s, this has opened a new front in the battle for talent and billable hours.
