U.S. securities regulators on Tuesday punished another company for using severance agreements to restrict departing employees from pursuing whistleblower rewards, a fresh warning to employers, following a similar action last week, not to interfere with the path of would-be tipsters.

Under the terms of the settlement, Health Net is required to make “reasonable efforts” to contact former employees who signed the agreements between August 2011 and October 2015. Health Net must provide those former employees with a link to the SEC order and a statement that the company does not prohibit them from seeking a whistleblower award.
