Newly named Houston College of Law has fired back against the University of Houston Law Center in a trademark infringement spat pitting the neighboring schools against each other. In its response to the infringement suit, the University of Houston filed June 27, the school formerly known as South Texas College of Law denied that its recent name change is an attempt to associate with the University of Houston’s law school or confuse prospective students.

Houston College of Law unveiled its new name on June 22, citing low name recognition for South Texas College of Law.
