The handling of classified information is a serious matter in the United States. “Classified information,” under 18 U.S.C. Section 709(b), is defined as information which, at the time of the alleged violation, was specifically designated for reasons of national security by a United States government agency to be limited or restricted in its dissemination or distribution.
