Yelp Inc., the online recommendations and ratings website, is based in San Francisco and has ­generated more than 77 million reviews in roughly 30 countries from the United States to Singapore. Its hyperlocal, “word of mouth” business model allows readers to sound off about services ranging from restaurants to guitar instructors.

Yelp employs more than 3,000 people and rang up revenue of more than $375 million in 2014. General counsel Laurence Wilson said the ­hiring trend at Yelp is up by more than 10 percent from the prior year.
