A federal judge in Florida on Thursday closed the federal criminal and civil cases involving the three members of the “Cuban Five” released in a prisoner swap earlier this week.

Antonio Guerrero, Gerardo Hernández and Ramón Labañino (also known as Luis Medina) had spent years fighting their convictions on spying charges in federal district and appeals courts. They were released on Wednesday after President Barack Obama commuted the remainder of their prison sentences as part of a broader effort to reestablish diplomatic ties with Cuba.
