Update: The White House announced tonight that President Obama would announce his intent to nominate Lynch on Saturday during a ceremony in the Roosevelt Room. Outgoing Attorney General Eric Holder and Lynch would attend, a spokesman said. Watch NLJ.com for further developments.
If Brooklyn U.S. Attorney Loretta Lynch is nominated soon as the next Attorney General, as now seems likely, she could stir up two battles in the Senate: one over her actual confirmation, and the other on which Senate should decide her fate.
