A federal judge in Washington on Thursday dismissed claims in two lawsuits against the Internal Revenue Service brought by groups who alleged they were improperly targeted while applying for tax-exempt status.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration found in 2013 that the agency had flagged organizations perceived to have conservative or Tea Party ties for additional scrutiny. Groups that claimed to be victims of that practice sued the IRS in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
