After three blockbuster terms in a row, the 2014-15 U.S. Supreme Court term will open with a relatively low-key docket, but could turn historic if the court takes one or more of seven same-sex marriage cases.

During a recent Washington Legal Foundation event, John Elwood of Vinson & Elkins said that, compared to recent terms, this term’s cases thus far will be “like watching C-SPAN3 after seeing ‘Fast & Furious 6.’ “
