Barnes & Thornburg (Indianapolis): Darren VanPuymbrouck joins the firm’s litigation department as partner in the Chicago office and will focus on commercial litigation, toxic torts, class actions and products liability matters. Previously, VanPuymbrouck was a partner at Schiff Hardin.

Cozen O’Connor (Philadelphia): Ingrid Welch joins the firm’s ­private-equity and real estate practices as partner in the Philadelphia office and will focus on fund ­formation, private placements, mergers and acquisitions, and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission investment adviser and broker-dealer registration and compliance. Previously, Welch was a partner at Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss.

Dechert: Scott Warren joins the firm’s intellectual property practice as partner in the New York office and will advise clients in the pharmaceutical, chemical and medical-device industries on a range of issues. Previously, Warren was a partner at Goodwin Procter.

Duane Morris (Philadelphia): Ari Markenson joins the firm’s health law practice as partner in the New York office and will focus on health care mergers and acquisitions, regulatory work and private equity. Previously, Markenson was a partner at Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff.

Foley & Lardner: Chris Laukenmann joins the firm’s finance and financial institutions, transactional and securities, and private-equity and venture-capital practices as partner in the Los Angeles office. He will focus on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, general ­corporate, restructuring and regulatory compliance. Previously, Laukenmann was a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.

Jones Day: Samidh Guha joins the firm’s securities litigation and Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement practice as partner in the New York office and will focus on regulatory enforcement actions, corporate investigations, securities litigation, and commercial and employment litigation. Previously, Guha was a partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.

Kaufman Dolowich & Voluck (Wood­bury, N.Y.): Iram Valentin rejoins the firm as partner in the Hackensack, N.J., office and will focus on professional-liability defense and financial services and civil litigation. Previously, Valentin was a partner at The Gonzo Law Group.

Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton (Atlanta): Todd Burbank joins the firm’s real estate investment and development team as partner in the Charlotte office and will focus on commercial real estate transactions, including financing. Previously, Burbank was a partner at McGuireWoods.

King & Spalding (Atlanta): Samuel Choy joins the firm’s tax and employee-benefits and executive-compensation practices as partner in the Atlanta office and will focus on employee benefits considerations in corporate mergers, acquisitions and other transactions. Previously, Choy was a partner at McKenna Long & Aldridge.

Quarles & Brady (Milwaukee): Andre Fiebig joins the firm’s corporate-­services practice group as partner in the Chicago office and will focus on corporate and antitrust law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, ­international joint ventures and commercial law. Previously, Fiebig was a partner at Baker & McKenzie.

Troutman Sanders (Atlanta): Adam Kobos joins the firm’s tax group as partner in the Portland, Ore., office and will represent clients in federal and state tax matters, with a primary focus in the energy industry. Previously, Kobos was a partner at Stoel Rives.


Greenberg Traurig: Robert Downing joins the firm’s Latin American and Iberian practice group and global energy and infrastructure practice group as partner and will split his time between the firm’s Miami and Houston offices. He will focus on international business transactions. Previously, Downing was associate general counsel at Duke Energy International LLC.
