A fight between Amazon Web Services and IBM U.S. Federal over a $600 million contract to provide cloud computing services to the Central Intelligence Agency gives a rare glimpse into the role of government contractors in supporting national security agencies.
In a decision made public today, the U.S. Government Accountability Office ruled that the contract was wrongly awarded to Amazon and instructed the CIA to reopen the bidding. The government was also asked to pay the attorney fees of IBM's lawyers at McKenna Long & Aldridge.
