NEW ARRIVALS

Day Pitney: Karen Spilka joins the firm’s corporate and business law department as of counsel to the Boston office. She will focus on regulatory matters in the biotechnology, life sciences and clean-energy industries. Spilka continues to serve as a Massa­chusetts state senator.

Beirne, Maynard & Parsons (Hous­ton): Renée McElhaney joins the firm as partner in the San Antonio office and will focus on appellate work, commercial and aviation litigation, and alternative dispute resolution. Previously, McElhaney served as a Texas state-court judge in San Antonio.

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher (Los Angeles): Richard Cunningham joins the firm’s trade-regulation practice group as of counsel to the Denver office and will focus on antitrust matters, including litigation and counseling. Previously, Cunningham served as senior trial counsel at the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition.

Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker (New York): Peter Hughes joins the firm as of counsel to the San Diego office and will focus on the defense of civil litigation matters. Previously, Hughes was founding partner at the Hughes Law Firm.

Baker Botts (Houston): Chris Caulfield joins the firm’s litigation practice as partner in the London office and will focus on international commercial and corporate disputes. Previously, Caulfield was a partner at Squire Sanders.

Davis Wright Tremaine (Seattle): Philip Albert joins the firm’s intellectual property practice as partner in the San Francisco office and will focus on patent prosecution and counseling. Previously, Albert was a partner at Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton.

DLA Piper: Gregory Ruback joins the firm’s finance practice as partner in the New York office and will concentrate on representing financial companies in leveraged-finance transactions. Previously, Ruback was a partner at Proskauer Rose.

Littler Mendelson (San Francisco): Joycelyn Stevenson joins the firm as partner in the Nashville, Tenn., office and will focus on labor and employment and business immigration law. Previously, Stevenson was a partner at Bradley Arant Boult Cummings.

Locke Lord: William Howard joins the firm’s business litigation and dispute-resolution practice as partner in the Chicago office and will focus on trial, litigation and business counseling. Previously, Howard was a partner at Freeborn & Peters.

Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo (Boston): Robert Burwell joins the firm’s corporate and securities section as partner in the San Francisco office and will focus on private-equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, spinoffs and general corporate and securities matters. Previously, Burwell was a partner at Latham & Watkins.

Reed Smith: Jeffrey Page joins the firm’s financial industry group as partner in the New York office and will focus on commercial real estate transactions, including multilender real estate finance. Previously, Page was a partner at Riemer & Braunstein.
