She focuses on matters before state attorneys general throughout the United States. Previously, she headed the state attorneys general practice at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe. Kalani received her J.D. from George Mason University School of Law.

Mark Polston, 48, has joined King & Spalding’s Washington office as a partner in its health care practice. He focuses on federal litigation, including Medicare, Medicaid and Affordable Care Act regulatory policies. Previously, he was a deputy associate general counsel at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Mark Lanpher, 34, has joined Shear­man & Sterling’s D.C. office in the securities and white-collar enforcement practices as counsel. He focuses on Securities and Exchange Commission enforcements and settlements. Previously, he was a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
