Hiscock & Barclay (Syracuse, N.Y.): Eugene Shkurko joins the firm’s patents and prosecution practice as counsel to the Rochester, N.Y., office and will focus on patent preparation and prosecution, licensing and litigation support. Previously, Shkurko was in-house counsel at Eastman Kodak Co.
K&L Gates: Sebastián Romero Melchor joins the firm’s food, drugs, medical devices and cosmetics practice as partner in the Brussels office and will focus on European Union regulatory law and policy, food labeling and advertising, product registration and products liability. Previously, Melchor was founder and managing partner at Food Law Consultants.
O’Melveny & Myers: Gigi Woo joins the firm’s capital-markets practice as partner in the Hong Kong office and will focus on securities and investment matters. Previously, Woo was global head of debt and equity capital markets legal at Standard Chartered Bank.
Parsons Behle & Latimer (Salt Lake City): Michael Bogert joins the firm to lead the environmental law practice as partner in the Boise, Idaho, office and will focus on environmental and natural resources law matters. Previously, Bogert was senior counsel to Crowell & Moring. Before that, he was counsel to Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne from 2006 to 2009.
Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati (Palo Alto, Calif.): Christopher Kuner joins the firm as senior of counsel to the Brussels office and will focus on European and international data protection and privacy compliance. Previously, Kuner was a partner at Hunton & Williams.
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings (Birmingham, Ala.): Robert Cox Jr. joins the firm’s bankruptcy, restructuring and distressed-investing practice group as partner in the Charlotte, N.C., office and will focus on financial restructuring and insolvency, including bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, commercial workouts and distressed-asset acquisitions. Previously, Cox was a partner at McGuireWoods.
Duval & Stachenfeld (New York): Stephen Land joins the firm’s newly formed tax practice group as partner in the New York office. He will focus on tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance matters — in particular, financial instruments, corporate restructurings, structured financing arrangements, real estate, joint ventures and executive compensation. Previously, Land was the head of the U.S. tax practice at Linklaters.
Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher (Los Angeles): Thad Davis and Michael Li-Ming Wong join the firm as partners in the San Francisco office. Davis joins the firm as co-chairman of the firm’s securities litigation practice group and will focus on complex business litigation, including securities, regulatory and antitrust matters . Wong joins the firm as co-chairman of the securities enforcement group and will focus on securities enforcement, white-collar defense matters and litigation. Previously, Davis and Wong were partners at Ropes & Gray.
Hunton & Williams (Richmond, Va.): Michael Richman joins the firm’s bankruptcy, restructuring and creditors’ rights practice group as partner in the New York office and will focus on the representation of Chapter 11 debtors and creditors’ committees. Previously, Richman was chairman of the bankruptcy practice at Patton Boggs.
King & Spalding (Atlanta): William Charnley joins the firm’s European practice as partner in the London office and will focus on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, hedge funds, corporate finance and capital markets. Previously, Charnley was a partner at Mayer Brown.
McGuireWoods: Steven Geerlings and Marc Isaacs join the firm’s finance team as partners in the London office. Geerlings will focus on structuring cross-border asset-based lending transactions, insolvency strategies and private-equity and mezzanine-lending transactions. Isaacs will focus on leveraged-acquisition finance, infrastructure finance, asset-based lending and general debt restructuring and financings in emerging markets. Previously, Geerlings was head of the asset-based lending team at Eversheds, and Isaacs was a partner at Nabarro.
