Baker & McKenzie: Karyn Koiffman joins the firm as partner in the New York office and will focus on mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, reorganizations, commercial contracts and related corporate matters. Previously, Koiffman was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis.

Dorsey & Whitney: Bryon Benevento, Dan Larsen and Kimberly Neville join the firm’s trial group as partners in the Salt Lake City office. Benevento will focus on commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation and products liability defense. Larsen will focus on products liability defense, medical malpractice, commercial litigation and government law. Neville will focus on products liability, health care and commercial litigation. Previously, Benevento, Larsen and Neville were partners at Snell & Wilmer.

Duane Morris (Philadelphia): Rich Kim joins the firm’s intellectual property practice group as partner in the San Diego office and will focus on patent prosecution in the areas of patent drafting, analysis and portfolio counseling. Previously, Kim was a partner at Morrison & Foerster.

Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough (Columbia, S.C.): Juan Marcelino and James O’Hare join the firm as partners in the Boston office. Marcelino will focus on securities enforcement ­matters involving insider trading, ­financial reporting, offering fraud and other securities law violations. O’Hare will focus on representing technology companies in the areas of general corporate matters, mergers and acquisitions, dispute resolution and public and private financings. He will also represent private-equity funds. Previously, Marcelino was a partner at Greenberg Traurig and O’Hare was a partner at K&L Gates.

Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr: Drew Chapman joins the firm’s securities department and investment management group as partner in the New York office. He will also lead the alternative investment practice firmwide. Chapman will focus on complex transactions for alternative investment, asset management and financial services firms. Previously, he was head of the alternative investment group at Cadwalader, Wicker­sham & Taft.

NEW ARRIVALS

Allen & Overy (London): Karen Garry joins the firm’s derivatives and structured-finance practice as senior counsel to the New York office. Previously, Garry was executive director and assistant general counsel at JPMorgan Chase & Co.

DLA Piper: David Luce joins the firm’s corporate and finance practice and its insurance and reinsurance sector practice as partner in the New York office and will focus on insurance-related capital markets and reinsurance transactions. Previously, Luce was a director in the fixed income division of Credit Suisse Group A.G.

Faegre Baker Daniels: John Hirsch­man rejoins the firm’s real estate and construction team as counsel to the Indianapolis office and will focus on representing clients in debt and equity financing transactions, leasing transactions and acquisition and disposition transactions. Previously, Hirsch­man was director of real estate development at Browning Investments Inc.

Harris, O’Brien, St. Laurent & Houghteling (New York): Kevin O’Brien joins the firm as name partner and will focus on commercial and securities litigation, regulatory enforcement cases and white-collar criminal defense matters. Previously, O’Brien was a litigation partner at Dechert. Additionally, Andrew St. Laurent has been promoted to name partner at the firm. St. Laurent has been with the firm since 2009. The firm has changed its name from Harris & Houghteling.

Holland & Knight: Marc Sukkar joins the firm as partner in the Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, office and will focus on construction law, energy and dispute resolution. Previously, Sukkar was senior counsel for Msheireb Properties, a subsidiary of Qatar Foundation.



Jones Day:
Beong-Soo Kim joins the firm’s issues and appeals practice as partner in the Los Angeles office and will focus on commercial litigation. Previously, Kim was chief of the major frauds section in the criminal division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California.
