GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY

Roger Fairfax, 40, has been promoted to full professor at George Washington University Law School. His scholarship focuses on criminal procedure, white-collar investigations, the grand jury and criminal justice policy. Prior to joining the law faculty, Fairfax served as a prosecutor at the U.S. Department of Justice. He earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School.

GROOM LAW GROUP

Michael Maricco, 37, has joined Groom Law Group as of counsel to the corporate and securities group in Washington. His practice focuses on employee-benefits matters. Previously, he was an attorney in the Office of Chief Counsel at the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. Maricco earned his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School.

HOGAN LOVELLS

Harriet Pearson, 48, will join Hogan Lovells as a partner in the privacy and information-management practice effective Aug. 1. Previously, she was vice president, security counsel and chief privacy officer at International Business Machines Corp. She earned her J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles School of Law.

PATTON BOGGS

Brian Vohrer, 38, has joined Patton Boggs in Washington as counsel to the sovereign-representation and public policy and lobbying groups. Previously, he was counsel to Dewey & LeBoeuf. He earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School.

POLSINELLI SHUGHART

Andy Wright, 59, has joined Polsinelli Shughart as a shareholder in the Washington office. Wright lobbies and advises clients in the energy, environment and telecommunications industries. Previously, he was managing principal at Dutko Grayling. He earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

SUTHERLAND ASBILL & BRENNAN

Mark Robertson, 53, has joined Sutherland Asbill & Brennan’s Washington office as a partner in the corporate, hospitality and leisure, outsourcing/systems integration and technology practices. Previously, he was senior vice president and assistant general counsel for Hilton Worldwide Inc. Robertson earned his J.D. from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law.

Michael de Leon Hawthorne, 49, has joined Thompson Coburn as a partner in the corporate and securities group in Washington. His transactional practice serves ­clients in the telecommunications, natural resources, health care, energy, restaurant and technology fields. Previously, he was a partner at Bingham Greenebaum Doll. Hawthorne earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
