Eubie Blake famously quipped, “If I’d known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.” Three decades ago, it really didn’t occur to me that I would be looking back to that time, or I would have kept better notes. Ah, but I have some memories.

How has the legal profession changed in the past three decades? I could mention the obvious. In 1978, we had no BlackBerrys or iPhones. E-mail was an experimental concept of no commercial value. We still used carbon paper. A laptop was a napkin you placed strategically before dining. The changes in technology have changed every aspect of our society — and the practice of law with it.
