He turns 82 this month, but Fields — the dean of Hollywood’s powerhouse litigators — isn’t slowing down.
Fields represents Warren Beatty in a dispute with Tribune Media Services over the rights to Dick Tracy. He also represents the Weinstein brothers in a suit by Michael Moore over the profits from Fahrenheit 9/11.
“He still continues to be a very formidable opponent,” said Moore’s lawyer, Larry Stein of Los Angeles’ Liner Grode Stein Yankelevitz Sunshine Regenstreif & Taylor.
Fields said he is especially excited about a $50 million libel suit he brought on behalf of Katie Holmes over a Star magazine article insinuating she had a drug addiction. It “raises the issue of whether a magazine can libel someone on the cover,” he said.
He also represents Pom Wonderful before the U.S. Federal Trade Commission over a challenge to its health claims.
